83.  Outer Space Treasure Hunt

Description:  Houston we have a problem! Robots and Martians are invading earth!

Preparation:  To conduct this hunt you need blank tapes or CDs and a portable tape or CD player.

Place robot, alien, or astronaut toys with each recorded clue.  [Provide enough for each player at each location.]

Pre-record robot sounding messages [clues] and hide the tapes or CDs as you would clue cards.  The recorded clues will guide the hunters to the next recorded clue and eventually to the hidden treasure.

Example of a recorded clue:  “We are here to invade all places that hold yummy for the tummy foods.” [Hide clue recording on the food table.]

You can decorate the party area like a space station or make an area 51 sign with aliens, spaceships, and robots. Wear alien masks or astronaut helmets. Draw a giant moon and planets.

Hang a solar system; build a space capsule or a cockpit of a space capsule out of cardboard.

Buy E-Book  $9.95

Buy E-Book on CD $12.95 + $3.00 S&H

How to Play: Give the tape/CD player to one of the hunters along with the first recorded clues to guide the group of hunters to the first recorded tape/CD. The hunters carry the player with them during the treasure hunt to listen to each recorded clue.

As an activity before the hunt, hunters make square robot heads constructed with small boxes.  Cut holes for the eyes and mouth and wrap boxes in foil.  Attach wire antennas to the boxes to “pick up recorded clue messages.”

Making robot heads will set the stage for the fun treasure hunt yet to come.

Play a movie that features robots, astronauts, or Martians.  Buy alien, astronaut or robot candies found on the Internet.

Suggested refreshments: Green gelatin, purple beverages, cake served with candies to make robot faces. Serve robot cake with alien robot blood or brains [rainbow sherbet or Neapolitan ice cream.] Buy foods and drinks in pouches or wrapped, like the astronauts foods.
